Anonymous asked: I hate winter because it means that I have to wear SO MANY LAYERS and I am more of a dress and sandals kind of lady. What suggestions do you have for winterizing my favorite dresses?

Answer:

Dear Anonymous:

I am so glad you asked this question. Winter is HARD! Winter is Femmephobic! Winter is cold! But I am practicing a personal philisophical move towards leaning into the change. So, first of all, winter is coming but it is not here yet so I am enjoying the crunch crunch of Fall leaves under my feet while still prepping for the Winter that is to come. And I am still wearing sandals sometimes. I like my feet to feel FREEEEEEEE like wild ponies.

Some brief winter tips:

*leggings! leggings over pantyhose to make them even extra warm!

*Scarves! Fashion scarf on the bottom, heavier scarf for outside.

*Wear a bodysuit. A lace bodysuit like you would wear for some XXX action looks really cute under a dress and that makes for warmth. Try this one.

I wrote up a guide to winter layering on my blog here. http://queerfatfemme.com/2010/11/30/winter-layering-with-style/
